Boncath Community Hall, Boncath
Boncath is a small attractive village in a rural farming community within a few miles of the towns of Crymych, Cardigan and Newcastle Emlyn. It was once an intermediate stop on the rail link between Whitland and Cardigan which closed during the Beeching Axe of 1963. In those busy days the station was an important hub for timber and agricultural produce (not the least of which were rabbits for the table.) The village was renowned as a place to acquire one’s Sunday best suit as it once boasted 3 tailors, a cobbler and a dressmaker. There is now a village shop / Post Office and a pub, the Boncath Inn. Boncath means “buzzard” in Welsh.
In 1990 a local community committee in partnership with an old YMCA facility in the village, succeeded in securing grant funding for a new community village hall. The new building was completed in 2000 and now offers excellent modern facilities for a wide range of activities.
The hall is available for hire for:
