When the primary school was closed in 2000, the Bwlchygroes Hall Committee was formed in order to buy the site comprising former school building, the hall, the school yard and about 1.25 acre playing field. After years of fundraising the £55,000 was raised and the site was bought in 2007. The hall has become an important part of this very rural area, providing a meeting place for various groups and staging a variety of events to suit all tastes and thus lessening social isolation.
